After leaving Portland and the wonderful sunset, we headed south towards New Jersey on Wednesday to see Julie's sister, Megan, who is attending Drew University in Madison. It was a sleeting, cold day, but we had a great lunch at Firehouse Pizza and Kenna even got a free hat!
Our plans were to continue heading south to Philly, however, our friends, Megan and Ames Kaiser in Rhode Island, FINALLY called us back after being in rural Maine with no phone or internet the entire month of February (God bless them!). Since at this point it was snowing, sleeting, and the roads were quite icy, we did what any intelligent family would do: headed back north into the eye of the storm. On Thursday, we traveled about an hour and the roads were so bad we stopped at The Fairfield Inn in Brideport, CT and stayed the night. Fortunately, the roaches didn't keep us up the entire night. We have to cut costs out here on the road so this hotel was quite the experience. Back on the road Friday morning and on to RI.
